OMEGA introduced the Constellation Observatory Collection on 26 March 2026, presenting a new Constellation line built around a specific technical milestone: the brand says it is the first two-hand watch collection to achieve Master Chronometer certification. The certification was made possible by an acoustic testing method developed by the Laboratoire de Précision and certified by METAS, allowing OMEGA to test precision without relying on the visual tracking of a seconds hand.
The new method matters because a traditional timing test can use the seconds hand as a visible reference point. In the Constellation Observatory watches, OMEGA combines acoustic analysis of the movement with optical hand-tracking, which lets the certification process work for a cleaner two-hand display. The official materials position this as a technical extension of OMEGA’s wider Master Chronometer programme rather than a separate or lower testing standard.
The launch covers 39.4 mm timepieces and nine references, divided into Grand Luxe, Luxe and Standard/O-MEGASTEEL expressions. Grand Luxe and Luxe versions use the new calibre 8915. For the 950 Platinum-Gold Grand Luxe edition, OMEGA specifies a rotor base in 18K Sedna Gold and an Observatory medallion in 18K white gold with enamel and aventurine glass details.
The 18K gold Luxe watches also use calibre 8915. OMEGA notes that these models include the brand’s first use of an 18K Moonshine Gold rotor and balance bridge, alongside Sedna Gold elements. The source material confirms these movement and material details, but it does not provide retail prices, allocation information or exact regional delivery dates.
The Standard/O-MEGASTEEL part of the collection is powered by the new calibre 8914 Standard. OMEGA describes four O-MEGASTEEL expressions, including a black ceramic pie-pan dial and three coloured dials with stamped groove facets. These versions keep the same 39.4 mm format and two-hand layout, bringing the acoustic Master Chronometer testing story into the steel part of the collection.
OMEGA’s announcement also links the collection to the Constellation family’s observatory-precision theme, but the verified official texts are mainly focused on the certification method, the two new calibres and the nine-reference structure. Current 12-24 catalogue listings for OMEGA and the Constellation line can be used for related availability checks separately from this launch news.
